Virtual Talk Series ‘Hello Librarian!’

Nearly a year into the Covid-19 pandemic, libraries, the centre point for research and academic life, have seen a growing reliance on online sources. To enhance the services provided to students, thus, the Library at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) organized a virtual talk series, “Hello Librarian!” on Online Library Activities: Pandemic & Afterward on February 4, 2021.

Professor Sumon Rahman from the Department of Media Studies and Journalism (MSJ) and Advisor, Library Affairs, ULAB, delivered the welcome address in the event. Mr Hossam Haider Chowdhury, Librarian & Library Head, Independent University Bangladesh (IUB); Mr Md. Maidul Islam, Assistant Professor, Department of Information Science & Library Management, University of Dhaka; and Mr A.K.M. Nurul Alam, Deputy Director, Research Department (Library), Bangladesh Bank were present as the guest speakers in the session. Mr K.M. Hasan Emam, Joint Librarian and Library Head, ULAB, moderated the virtual session.

Around 92 participants from private and public university libraries, and research organizations from different countries including India, Japan, Switzerland, Pakistan, Singapore, Australia, and Bangladesh attended this virtual discussion session.

“Hello Librarian” is a significant virtual platform where library professionals share innovative and creative ideas with their fellow library professionals.
