Training on Trainers!

Ahasan, Dhaka, 23 February 2019.

A three-day long training session of two different batches on “Brick Play and Orientation on Kano Computer and Micro:bit“ held at Hotel Sel Nibash, Dhaka from 11 February to 13 February 2019 and 18 February to 20 February 2019 respectively. Each batch had twenty participants from different public libraries of Bangladesh took part in the training session. Libraries Unlimited project of the British Council organized the training sessions.

E. Mrs Marie Annick Bourdin, Ambassador of France in Dhaka met with the H. E.  K M Khalid MP, State Minister of Cultural Affairs, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh at his office, Dhaka on 3 February 2019. Secretary (in Charge) of Ministry of Cultural Affairs Dr Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal, NDC was also present during the meeting.

Book Chat Event on ‘Ma’ Written by Anisul Haque in Chapai Nawabganj, Bangladesh

District Government Public Library (DGPL), Chapai Nawabganj has inaugurated ‘Book Chat’ on February 06, 2019. Book chat was carried out on a pre-defined book title named ‘Ma (Freedom Fighter’s Mother)’ written by famous writer Anisul Haque. There were 18 participants & 4 judges in the jury to judge the individual participant’s review.

Spring Festival ‘Fagoon Samirone’

Bengal Foundation organized a Spring Festival ‘Fagon Samirone’ from February 12 to 16, 2019 in its premises. The five days festival included literature-talk, book, song album publication and musical events. The event was opened for everyone.

The Bengal Foundation is a Bangladeshi non-profit and charitable organization for three decades. Bengal foundation publishes a range of books, magazines and folios that promote and encourage the practice of contemporary Bangladeshi art, literature and music as part of its publishing program.

National Library Day-2019 Observed at icddr,b Library

icddr,b Library observed “National Library Day” on 05 February 2019 in its library premises. This year’s theme is “Gronthagare Boi Pori, Alokito Manush Gori” (let’s read books in the library, create an enlightened mind). To grace the occasion, a simple and informal program was organized by the library staff members at the cyber corner and training area of the Library. Among other participants, Dr. Mohammad Yunus, Emeritus Scientist; Dr. ASG Faruque, Consultant; Dr. Dinesh Mondal, Senior Scientist; Dr. Fatema Khatun, Associate Scientist; Dr. Sadika Akhter, Dy Project Coordinator, HSPSD; Ms Asma Akhter and her team from finance office were present on the occasion and participated in the discussion. Senior scientists and researchers shared the importance and significance of library services at icddr,b. Library issues are discussed in the meeting.

Asia Open Access Meeting is going to be held in Bangladesh on 6-7 March, 2019

Asia Open Access (OA) is an extraordinary discussion facilitated by Confederation of Open Access Repositories (COAR) in which individuals from the Asian OA network can share data, meet one another and manufacture connections. It has a mailing list and arranges gatherings to encourage more prominent trade past national limits. It observes Asian social assorted variety and remarkable method for getting things done. The Asia (OA) meeting will give a chance to find out about worldwide patterns, share data crosswise over Asian nations, and help with neighbourhood procedures for expanding the selection of open access and open science in the nation as well as in Bangladesh.
