Jahangir Alam has been promoted to University Librarian at International Islamic University Chittagong (IIUC)

Mr Md. Jahangir Alam has been promoted to University Librarian at the International Islamic University Chittagong (IIUC) on 15 June 2019. Previously, Mr Jahangir worked at IIUC as Additional Librarian and Librarian (In-charge) for two years. He has a total of thirteen years of professional experiences in different university libraries including IIUC, Eastern University, Manarat International University, and Northern University Bangladesh. He also served as an Adjunct Faculty at Daffodil International University (DIU) and IIUC in the Department of Library and Information Science.

The 2019 International Paper Contest (IPC) committee, with jury members in China, India, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Turkey, and Zimbabwe has recently announced the contest winners names!

 
The paper titled “Perceived Value of Social Media in Students’ Participation in Social Movement: A Developing Country Perspective” by Md. Anwarul Islam and Shohana Akter, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh has been selected for the 3rd place in this competition.
Shohana Bhuiyan Shathi was a master’s thesis student of Md. Anwarul Islam in 2018. Anwar supervised her to conduct the study on “Perceived Value of Social Media in Students’ Participation in Social Movements: A Developing Country Perspective.”

The board announced the first winner of the TLT Sponsored Scheme Scholarship Award 2018 on 8 April 2018. Today, I am pleased to share my experience with this award how this helped me in my student life.

Words are used for communication with people, mutual understanding, expressing the feeling of a person, but I don’t have any word to express my heartiest gratitude for obtaining TLT Sponsored Scheme Award 2018.

The Creative Commons Summit 2019 was held in Lisbon, Portugal. Creative Commons Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ryan Markley inaugurated the summit and it continues till Saturday, 11 May 2019.

Many people came together from around the world to participate in the Creative Commons Global Summit. The gathering was a chance for CC network members, digital rights activists, open content creators, and commons advocates to meet together, share information, and collaborate on projects. Since 2015, the CC Global Summit has nearly doubled in size. The Summit has grown every year as hundreds of leading activists, advocates, librarians, educators, lawyers, technologists, and more have joined for discussion and debate, workshops and planning, talks and community building.

Inauguration of the First International Conference on Information and Knowledge Management in Bangladesh

The Inaugural Ceremony of the 1st International Conference on Information and Knowledge Management (i-IKM 2019) was held at BPATC, Savar, Dhaka on 25 April 2019. The Conference is being jointly organized by the Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre (BPATC) and the Department of the Information Studies and Library Management, East West University. Around 30 Invited Speakers from all around the world, 170 paper presenters and around 350 participants joined the Conference. This Conference is the first initiative taken in Bangladesh of its kind focusing on one of the burning issues of 21st Century, Agenda 2030.

Celebration of World Book and Copyright Day at Bishwo Shahitto Kendro

Professor Abdullah Abu Sayeed, the founder and president of the Bishwo Shahitto Kendro (World Literature Centre), quoted philosopher Sapkalis and said, “There are many surprises in this world. But there is nothing surprising like humans. Averted of the book is darkness and book fondness is light. People will come to creativity when this light will reflect them, their mindset will be awakened and copyright will be stopped.

To celebrate UNECSO announced World Book and Copyright Day on 23 April 2019, Bangladesh National Commission for UNESCO and Bishwo Shahitto Kendro jointly organized a discussion meeting on “Our Creative Books and Intellectuals” at Ishkendar Zahid Hasan Auditorium, Bishwo Shahitto Kendro.
