Fault LineA book review program on Fault Lines: How Hidden Fractures Still Threaten The World Economy held on 25 September 2018 at projection room of Bangladesh Bank Library. The book was written by Raghuram Rajan, former governor of Reserve Bank of India and becomes very popular around the world.

Dr Md. Kabir Ahmed, General Manager, Financial Stability Department, Bangladesh Bank was the discussant on the book.

Mr Rajan was one of the few economists who warned of the global financial crisis before it hit. Now, as the world struggles to recover, it’s tempting to blame what happened on just a few greedy bankers who took irrational risks and left the rest of us to foot the bill. » Read more

Ahmadul Islam Howlader awarded Md. Shahid Ullah Memorial Gold Medal

Mr Ahmadul Islam Howlader, a student of the Department of Information Science and Library Management, University of Dhaka has been awarded for Md. Shahid Ullah Memorial Gold Medal, 2017. He is honoured with this Gold Medal for achieving highest CGPA in Advanced Classification and Cataloguing (Practical) course in M.A. Final Examination 2017. Md. Shahid Ullah Memorial Gold Medal Trust Fund was established in July 2017 at the department. This is the First Gold Medal from the trust.

Susmita Saha awarded Lion Md. Jonab Ali and Farzana Jonab Gold Medal

Ms Susmita Saha, a student of the Department of Information Science and Library Management, University of Dhaka has been awarded the Lion Md. Jonab Ali and Farzana Jonab Gold Medal, 2017. She is honoured with this Gold Medal for achieving highest CGPA in B.A. (Hons.) final examination in 2017. The medal has been awarded under Lion Md. Jonab Ali and Farzana Jonab Trust Fund which was established in March 2016 in the department. This is the second Medal of the Fund.

Experience sharing workshop held in Dhaka on IFLA WLIC conference 2018

Mohammad Tanveer Ahsan

Mr. Mohammad Tanveer Ahsan is working as Assistant Library Officer at North South University Library. Mr. Ahsan completed his BA(Hons) and MA in Information Science and Library Management from University of Dhaka. Earlier, he worked at Center for Policy Dialogue as Documentation Officer and Bangladesh Environment Management Project as Library & Information  System Associate. 

Nonigopal Roy

Nonigopal Roy is an Assistant Librarian at Central Library, University of Rajshahi. Prior joining to University of Rajshahi, he worked as Assistant Librarian at Ayesha Abed Library, BRAC University and Deputy Librarian (Head of the Library) at Green University of Bangladesh.

As a professional expert in MARC21 and he has conducted several training on Machine Readable Cataloging (MARC 21).

Mr Roy obtained PGD in Information Technology (IT), CSE, BSS (Hons.) and MSS in Information Science & Library Management at University of Rajshahi.

Mr Roy has participated different national and international professional programmes like training/seminar/symposium on information and library management. Some of them are: Training on MARC 21, Training on KOHA (an open-source Integrated Library System), and Seminar on the issues in digital preservation: South Asian context, Management of e-Resources, Open Source Discovery Tool VuFind and Library Technology Conclave.

His areas of expertise are Professional understanding and knowledge of cataloging procedures and principles, including AACR2, DDC, LCSH, MARC 21, Knowledge of cataloguing tools such as MARCEdit and MARC Reports, Information and Library management and E-Resource (Online Journals) Management.

He is a life member of Bangladesh Association Librarians, Information Scientists and Documentalists (BALID), and Library Association of Bangladesh (LAB).
