Seminar on ‘Museum as Cultural Hubs: The Future of Tradition’ Held at Asiatic Society Bangladesh

A seminar titled ‘Museum as Cultural Hubs: The Future of Tradition’ has been held at Asiatic Society Bangladesh Auditorium by International Council of Museum (ICOM) on the occassion of International Museum Day 2019 on May 19, Sunday. The seminar was presided by Professor Mahfuza Khanam, President, Asiatic Society of Bangladesh with the chair of Professor Sharif Uddin Ahmed, Department of History and Philosophy, North South University Bangladesh.

During the seminar, Prof. Khanam said, “If we look at the richest and most civilised countries, we can see how they nourish their art and culture through museums.” Museums is a must for protecting history and the advancement of a civilised nation, she added. Professor Dr. Sabbir Ahmed, general secretary, Asiatic Society of Bangladesh, Muhammad Manirul Hoque, Deputy Keeper of Bangladesh National Museum, Sangita Lahiri, intern, Ramkrishna Mission Institute of Culture Kolkata, also spoke on the event.
