The University of Kalyani has conferred a PhD degree to Md. Moniruzzaman

Md. Moniruzzaman, National Information Officer and Head of United Nations Information Centre (Bangladesh), on 11 October 2018 was conferred with a PhD in Library and Information Science by the University of Kalyani (India) for his research on “ A critical study of information support services of UN agencies towards socio-economic development of Bangladesh.’’ Sri Sabuj Dasgupta of the Department of Library and Information Science of the University of Kalyani supervised the thesis.

Dr Md. Moniruzzaman has received the official certificate of PhD degree on 1 November 2018 at the 29th Convocation of University of Kalyani. In this convocation, 209 researchers received PhD degree.

Pronob Mukherjee (former president of India) was the chief guest. The ceremony was chaired by the Governor of West Bengal & the University’s Chancellor Keshari Nath Tripathi.

Earlier, Dr Moniruzzaman obtained Master of Arts in Information Science and Library Management degree from the University of Dhaka. Later, he pursued Master of Social Science in Journalism and Mass Communication from the Daffodil International University. For the latter one, he received the University Gold Medal for his excellent academic achievement.

He is a life member of BALID and LAB.
