Freshers’ Reception and Farewell Program Held at the National University of Bangladesh for the Students of On Campus Postgraduate Diploma in Library and Information Science Program

A colourful fresher’s reception, farewell program and certificated giving ceremony for the students of On-Campus Postgraduate Diploma in Library and Information Science program was held on 29 November 2018 at Senate Hall of the National University with great fervour and enthusiasm. Honourable guest Dr Md Mashiur Rahman, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh National University delivered his thoughtful speech to the students. Students are the life of the campus, he mentioned.

“Hundred of student’s footprints are available in the campus. Considering the Socio-economic prospect of Bangladesh, the honourable Chancellor decided to start the MAS and PGD program on campus based in the National University. The trend of producing Information Scientist will help to make digital Bangladesh in spite of several barriers,” he said.

Dr Hafiz Md. Hasan Babu, Honorable Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic), National University of Bangladesh delivered a spiritual speech to the students. He said that at the present time information rules the world and it could be stopped without eligible information scientists. In addition to this, it is expected that students of the program will be eligible information scientist in future, ” he said.

Professor Dr Md. Nasiruddin Mitul, the Program Coordinator, On Campus Post Graduate Diploma in Library and Information Science and Dean, School of Higher Education, National University of Bangladesh mentioned in his program director’s speech that, the Library and Information Science is forwarding by keeping its educational standard. We are producing information scientists to build skilled human resources for the nation.

Mohammed Bin Kashem, Dean-Curriculum Dev. and Evaluation Centre and Molla Mahfuz Al-Hossain, Registrar, National University also delivered their speeches among others. Meritorious students of the Postgraduate Diploma Program were awarded at the award ceremony part of the program.

It is worthwhile to mention that, in the academic year 2016-2017, On Campus Postgraduate Diploma in Library and Information Science program has been started and two batches have already successfully completed their programs.

At the end of the program, participants enjoyed a lively cultural program performed by the students.
