Guest Lecture on Records Management held at DISLM, DU.

A Guest lecture on ‘Records Management’ held at the Department of Information Science and Library Management (DISLM), the University of Dhaka on November 13, 2018. The lecture was delivered by Mr James Lowry, Lecturer, Liverpool University Centre for Archive Studies, Liverpool, UK. The session was arranged at the classroom no. 1007 of the Arts Building. Selected students from all current batches were present at the lecture. Some faculties of the Dept. also attended the lecture.

Before his lecture, Mr Lowry visited the Department’s smart computer lab, seminar library and exchanged views with faculties.


In his lecture, Mr Lowry emphasized on power imbalance between people and government because of lack of access to required information. At the end of the lecture, students asked questions about a different aspect of records management and higher study opportunity in the field of records and archives management in the UK and other universities.

Professor Dr Kazi Mostak Gausul Hoq, Chairman of the Dept. welcomed Mr James Lowry and presented a brief overview about the Dept. He also handed over a crest at the end of the lecture.
