Celebration of World Book and Copyright Day at Bishwo Shahitto Kendro

Professor Abdullah Abu Sayeed, the founder and president of the Bishwo Shahitto Kendro (World Literature Centre), quoted philosopher Sapkalis and said, “There are many surprises in this world. But there is nothing surprising like humans. Averted of the book is darkness and book fondness is light. People will come to creativity when this light will reflect them, their mindset will be awakened and copyright will be stopped.

To celebrate UNECSO announced World Book and Copyright Day on 23 April 2019, Bangladesh National Commission for UNESCO and Bishwo Shahitto Kendro jointly organized a discussion meeting on “Our Creative Books and Intellectuals” at Ishkendar Zahid Hasan Auditorium, Bishwo Shahitto Kendro.

The meeting was presided over by Prof. Abdullah Abu Sayeed. In the meeting, Senior Secretary of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education of the Education Ministry Sohrab Hossain, director general of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education Prof. Syed Md. Golam Faruque, child-literary Ali Imam, Vice-President of Bangladesh Knowledge and Creative Publisher Association, Khan Mahbubul Alam, Executive Editor of Weekly, Shub Kibria addressed their speech.

Professor Abdullah Abu Sayeed said that people can go to the top of the mountain from the bottom of the mountain to the contribution of a book. And this is possible because of one book.

Senior Secretary Md., Sohrab Hossain in his speech encouraged reading more creative or good books. Because the good books awaken in the mind of the mind and the bad books push the mind towards darkness. Professor Dr Syed Md. Golam Farooq emphasized the need for making a fair law on the boundary and application of copyright and advised to be strongly influenced to become a creative writer. Ali Imam said people are mindful by reading creative books. Dreams of people awake and help people to be as big a dream as possible.

Farhana Yasmin Jahan, Senior Program Officer of the UNESCO National Commission gave the welcome speech at the beginning of the ceremony. Director of Secondary and Higher Education Professor Dr Government Abdul Mannan presented the keynote paper.
