National Library Day 2019 Celebration at Khwaja Yunus Ali University

Department of Library and Information Science and Central library of Khwaja Yunus Ali University jointly celebrated National Library Day 2019 on Tuesday, with the slogan “Let’s read books in libraries and develop enlightened minds”.

Day-long activities were organized at Khwaja Yunus Ali University, Sirajgonj on the occasion. The key events of the celebration were including a rally, leaflet distribution, an inauguration of “Sufism Corner” in Central library and the opening of “Wall magazine”, a discussion session on “গ্রন্থাগারে বই পড়ি, আলোকিত মানুষ গড়ি”, and prize distribution ceremony of students for Library Reader Circle.

Professor Dr Hossain Reza, Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Khwaja Yunus Ali University delivered an inauguration speech and started the rally.  In his speech, he mentioned that “we have to be library oriented to take service and  take an oath to be an enlighten and ideal citizen of the  nation”

At the end of the rally, Mr M. A. Rashid Khan, treasurer of the Khwaja Yunus Ali University said “There are three ways for acquiring knowledge like as travelling, listening to scholars and study. We have to be depended on travelling and listening but reading books or using a library is a self-depended way to gather knowledge.”

Wall magazine “Alor Zatri” and “Sufism Corner” were inaugurated by Dr Rubaiyat Farzana Hussain, member secretary, the board of trustees, Khwaja Yunus Ali University and took valuable speech “Book is the best friend of a human who never leaves you”. Sufism is not limited to a specific religion, its range is vast.

In the end, the convener of the program, Head, Dept. of Library and Information Science and Library In-Charge, Rozifa Akhtar gave thanks to all for participating in the program and their co-operation to make the day successful.
