The National Library Day 2019 observed at East West University Library

East West University Library observed the National Library Day on 05 February 2019 aiming at building an educated and enlightened nation and making the people more library-oriented. The theme of the National Library Day 2019 is “গ্রন্থাগারে বই পড়ি আলোকিত মানুষ গড়ি”. On this day honourable President and Prime Minister Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh delivered a special message giving importance of libraries.
As a part of the celebration of national library day, EWU library was decorated with a colourful balloon, festoon, banners, posters etc to make the library users aware about the importance of the library in lifelong learning.
Besides, EWU Library arranged the following activities on this occasion.
- Round the week special customer care service
- Instant Library Membership and Library Orientation
- Joining grand rally organized by Ministry of Cultural Affairs at Central Public Library, Shahbag, Dhaka.
- Quiz contest on “Libraries: Citizen’s Door to Lifelong Learning” for EWU students.
- The award giving to best library user in 2019
A prize giving ceremony was arranged on 7 February 2019 at EWU Library to award the winners of the quiz contest. A.Z.M. Shafiqul Alam, Treasurer, East West University and Dr Dilara Begum, Associate Professor and Chairperson, Department of Information Studies and Library Management and Librarian (In-Charge), East West University were present at the ceremony and handed over the prizes to the winners. In this ceremony, two library users from faculty members and students were awarded as best library users in 2019.
