East West University Celebrates Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Day 2019

On 5th December 2019, the Department of Information Studies and Library Management, East West University celebrated GIS Day 2019 by arranging a seminar titled “The Role of Library and Information Professionals in Managing Geographic Information Systems (GIS).”

Mr Kabir Bin Anwar, Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources and Chairperson of CEGIS Board of Trustees attended the seminar as the chief guest while Mr Malik Fida A Khan, Executive Director (In-Charge), CEGIS and Member, National River Conservation Commission Protection was the guest of honour. Dr Dilara Begum, Associate Professor and Chairperson, Department of Information Studies and Library Management, East West University was the honourable convener of the seminar. At the debut of the GIS Day Celebration, Mahbub-E-Sobhanee introduced the importance of the day through a presentation. The session focused on GIS and information professionals in bringing it to the forefront for everybody to focus on all the data and applications that use GIS data on a daily basis.

Faculty Members, Admin staff and students of the Department of Information Studies and Library Management, East West University as well as Library Officials were present in the Seminar.

What is GIS Day?

GIS day is a worldwide event that celebrates the technology of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
