Mohammad Shakaought Hossain Bhuyian awarded MPhil degree

Mohammad Shakaought Hossain Bhuyian, Deputy Librarian, DU, has been awarded MPhil degree in Information Science and Library Management from the University of Dhaka. His thesis is titled “Assessing Users’ Needs and Satisfaction of Fine Arts Libraries in Bangladesh”. The research was conducted under Professor Dr M. Nasiruddin Munshi, Department of Information Science and Library Management, University of Dhaka. Earlier, Mr Shakaought obtained B.A. (Honors) and M.A degree in Information Science and Library Management from the same University.

He has been working as Deputy Librarian at the University of Dhaka since 2012. Earlier, he worked in Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute (BLRI), Savar as Assistant Librarian, North South University as Library Officer, and Shere-e-Bangla Agricultural University as Assistant Librarian.

Mr Shakaought participated in different training courses at home and abroad, including SAARC Documentation Centre, New Delhi, India, under the SAARC fellowship program, an advanced course on Modern Librarianship from NITTTP under the ITEC Fellowship program and training on CDS/ISIS from CIRDAP. He also participated the IFLA Annual Congress held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in 2018 with the IFLA  travel grant.
He has four articles and a book chapter published in national and international peer-reviewed journals and books. He is actively involved with a professional body, including the Library Association of Bangladesh (LAB). Currently, he is a Treasurer of LAB. He was also the central Councilor of LAB during the 2015-2017 session.
The son of Late Md. Samsul Haque Bhuiyan and Roushan Ara Begum, Shakaought was born on 5 February in 1978 at Bajnab Union in Belabo Upazila of Narsingdi District.
