Workshop on Intellectual Property Rights Issues for the journalists

The Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP) arranged a workshop on Intellectual Property Rights Issues for the journalists at the conference room of Bangladesh Press Institute (PIB) on Thursday 15th November 2018. Education Reporters Association, Bangladesh assisted HEQEP to arrange the workshop. Dr Aravind Chinchure, International IP and Innovation Expert from India conducted the workshop.

Collaboration visit between the Centre for Archive Studies and Ayesha Abed Library

Mr James Lowry from Centre for Archive Studies, University of Liverpool visited Ayesha Abed Library, BRAC University on 12th November 2018 along with Rukshana  Afroj from Carter Center. The purpose was to visit how we can collaborate with each other in right to information act, record management etc.

Information Literacy Session held at Southeast University Library

Southeast University (SEU) Library organized an Information Literacy session for the faculty members of the School of Business Studies (SBS) on 6 November 2018 at SEU Main Building, Banani, Dhaka. Md. Mubassir Ahsan, Assistant Librarian (Library In-Charge) conducted the session. The session was arranged and designed to enhance the faculty member’s research capacity by using e-resources as well as library resources. Twenty faculty members of SBS were present and they found the session was lively and fruitful. Dr Rezbin Nahar, Director of BBA Program attended the session among others.

Library Orientation Program for Fall-2018 held at NSU Library

A library orientation program was held recently organized by North South University Library for the students of Fall 2018 semester with an opportunity to become acquainted with all aspects of NSU Library Systems, Services, Resources and facilities. CIRDAP Aziz-ul Haq Library celebrated International Open Access Week (OA) on 28th October 2018. The International Open Access Week (OA) was celebrating all over the world during 22-28 October every year. Open access (OA) refers to free, unrestricted online access to research outputs such as journal articles and books. OA content is open to all, with no access fees. A global event is an opportunity for the academic and research community to continue to learn about the potential benefits of Open Access, to share what they’ve learned with colleagues, and to help inspire wider participation in helping to make Open Access a new norm in scholarship and research. It has direct and widespread implications for academia, medicine, science, industry, and for society as a whole.

Seminar on Archives in Bangladesh held at National Museum

Former caretaker government adviser Akbar Ali Khan said that the government records should be preserved in multiple places. Because they could be required at any time. He said this while addressing a seminar organized by Bangladesh Archives and Records Management Society (BARMS) as the chief guest.

The seminar was held at the Begum Sufia Kamal Auditorium, Bangladesh National Museum, Shahbagh, Dhaka titled ‘Archives in Bangladesh–Past Present Future’ on 3 November 2018.

Md. Jahangir Alam awarded MPhil Degree

The 49th Syndicate Meeting of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) held on 22 October 2018 conferred the MPhil Degree to Mr Md. Jahangir Alam for the thesis on “Assessing Adoption and Satisfaction of Open Source Integrated Library System in the University Libraries of Bangladesh”. Mr Alam is currently serving as Additional Librarian and Librarian (In-charge) at the International Islamic University Chittagong (IIUC). He is also serving as an Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Library and Information Science of IIUC. He worked at Northern University Bangladesh (NUB) Library, Manarat International University (MIU) Library and Eastern University (EU) Library for twelve years.

At the ALIA RAIS (Vic) Group’s latest event ‘Career Carpentry: How to engage with the ALIA PD Scheme‘ on 16 October; ALIA Victoria State Manager Eileen Louden presented several PD Scheme awards.
