Library Orientation Program for Fall-2018 held at NSU Library

A library orientation program was held recently organized by North South University Library for the students of Fall 2018 semester with an opportunity to become acquainted with all aspects of NSU Library Systems, Services, Resources and facilities. Dr Md. Zahid Hossain Shoeb, University Librarian of NSU, invited to attend the library orientation program at library building, 4th floor as the schedule.

The program was organized for 3 working days. The orientation program was in two parts, presentation and library tour. The program was started at 10.30 am and ended at 4.30 pm of various slots.

Dr Md. Zahid Hossain Shoeb, University Librarian of NSU, welcomed the fresher’s students and provided a brief introduction on NSU Library.

Mr Zahid represents the glory of NSU in the world and wished a good future of the new coming students. He mentioned that NSU library is the pioneer of using state-of-the-art, RFID technology, e-resource subscription, use of library research tools and training program for the faculty members, graduate and undergraduate students. In his speech, he said the students how they should follow the using system of library and give the importance of the different section of the library as Circulation section, Research & Reference section, Periodical section, Study Hall etc.

Mr MM Shoeb, Senior Assistant Librarian of NSU started the presentation by wishing bright future of the students. In his presentation, he explained an overall library service and systems and code of the conduct of NSU library.

Mr Abdul Hakim, NSU Assistant Librarian,Mr Rajiv Mahmud, NSU  Senior IT officer, Ms Ruksana Chowdhury, Mr Tanveer Ahsan, and other Library officers also spoke on how students can borrow and return library resources by using RFID self-check and book-drop machine,  how to browse, search, read and reserve library resources, reissue borrowed books and check their borrowing status from their residence through library website.

They also discussed the e-resources issues i.e. Turnitin, Grammarly, Scopus, MyAthens, Econlit, Ebsco and other online journals. After the presentation program, students went for a library tour to know its collections and different sections.
