Ms Tanjia Sharmin has been promoted to a Librarian: A Journey from a Library Officer to a Librarian

Ms Tanjia Sharmin has been promoted to Librarian at Asian University for Women (AUW), Chittagong effected from 1 October 2018.

Ms Tanjia completed her Bachelors and Master’s degree in Information Science and Library Management at the University of Dhaka with an excellent academic result.

She completed her master’s thesis under the supervision of Dr Md. Anwarul Islam, Associate Professor in the same subject at the same university. After concluding her master exam, she started her professional career as a Library Officer at AUW back in 2011. After working a few years she got a promotion to Senior Library Officer and finally, has been promoted to a Librarian.

Ms Tanjia is really excited about her new role and ready to take the challenges.

AUW is an independent, international University in Chittagong. The students are from 15 different countries of the world. Most of them are from South Asian countries, some are from the Middle East and Africa. The faculty members are also from different countries of the world.

Her background in Information and Library Management gives her an overall understanding of how to improve library and user services, and her ability to motivate the team has led to her continued success in the profession.

She is an instructor of Information Literacy Class and advisor of AUW Book Club at AUW.
