Library Orientation Program for the students of MPPG held at NSU Library

The Central Library of the North South University recently organized a special orientation program on the library facilities and services for newly admitted students of the department of Masters in Public Policy and Governance (MPPG).

The MPPG program is a 2-year master degree program in the Department of General and Continuing Education (GCE) at North South University. The program jointly with the University of Bergen, Norway, the Tribhuvan University, Nepal the University of Peradeniya from Sri Lanka joined the partnership group around the end of 2008. This program is funded by NOMA (Norad’s Master Studies Program) as a part of the capacity building of the public sector management practitioners. This is entirely a scholarship program where the participants are the high officials of government and private organizations and have selected from Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka. To fulfil the library facilities an orientation program: was arranged by NSU Library to provide an opportunity to become acquainted with all aspects of NSU library systems, services, resources and facilities, along with Library rules and regulation for the new students of Summer-2019 semester.

The orientation program aimed to focus on the library facilities and to provide valuable information on how to use the library resources and services such as membership, book & e-resources search, Current Awareness Service (CAS), remote access, research help, etc. effectively.

Dr Md. Zahid Hossain Shoeb, University Librarian, inaugurated the program. Mr M M Shoeb, Senior Assistant Librarian and Mr Md. Abdul Hakim, Assistant Librarian, briefed about the general library rules, the wealth of resources at the event. Senior IT officer of Library Mr Rajiv Mahmud conducted the orientation program by presenting a special lecture and completed by a library trip.
