TLT Excellence Academic Librarian Award 2019 (Academic Librarian of the Year) Dil Ruksana Basunia, Chittagong University

 

The award selection committee has nominated Dil Ruksana Basunia for TLT Excellence Academic Librarian Award 2019 for her contribution to the Arena of Academic Library. She is currently working as Deputy Librarian in the Central Library of the University of Chittagong and fairly very young for the position among others. She has prepared a project on ‘Central Library Automation Project’ and established a cyber centre under this project in the first phase. She organizes training and workshops for the staff and students as part of professional development and enhances user engagement in the library.  

Earlier, she worked as the University Librarian of Asian University for Women (AUW) – an International University in Bangladesh. During that period, she installed the library automation system with customized software and designed the library webpage with the help of IT department. She was the coordinator of information literacy class and work as an advisor of the AUW book club. She arranged TED Talk series in Library.  

She is performing as a corresponding member of Regional Standing Committee of Asia and Oceania (RSCAO), IFLA and attended several seminars in Singapore, India and Malaysia. In 2018, she won the IFLA ARL (Academic and Research Libraries Section) grant to attend IFLA Annual Congress in Malaysia. She has shared her experience in IFLA Newsletter and ARL Blog. She also presented a paper on her experience of IFLA in a seminar organized by Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Central Library.

She secured first class both in bachelor and master’s in Information Science and Library Management from the University of Dhaka. For her academic excellence, she has received Maitree Foundation Gold medal award’ from Bangladesh Kuwait Maitree Hall of the University of Dhaka.
