The librarian times celebrates Open Access Week 2019


The librarian times celebrated Open Access Week 2019 by conducting a webinar titled “Introduction to Open Educational Resources (OER).” The theme for Open Access Week was ‘Open for Whom? Equity in Open Knowledge’.

The webinar featured speaker was Prof. Mostafa Kamal Azad, Dean, School of Business, Bangladesh Open University and Country Representative Bangladesh for CC Global Network Council at Creative Commons. The presenter covered a range of OER disciplines – including the present status of open educational practices in Bangladesh, the features of OER, Copyright features, Open licenses and Importance of Open Policies. This webinar especially highlighted the tensions between copyright law and open licenses.

This webinar provides a focal point for Open Access Week in Bangladesh, for 2019. The webinar was moderated by Prodip Roy, Library Officer, RMIT University and Editor-in-Chief, The Librarian Times.
