BRBD: A unique platform for young researchers

Research work is a difficult and challenging part for young researchers. Due to a lack of necessary resources and guidelines, they cannot concentrate on research work properly. Many students lose interest in research due to various reasons, including lack of cooperation of experts, ignorance about necessary tools, complexities in research publication, and insufficient funds. As a result, a country is able to produce enough quality researchers.

A platform called ‘Be Research BD’ has emerged as a beacon for young and promising researchers in such a situation. Overcoming the fear of research, the path of creating a research-friendly environment BRBD began with this open platform for teaching research. The platform is now showing the way of research to the researchers across the world.

The 2nd i-IKM 2021 conference held in Dhaka

The 2nd International Conference on Information and Knowledge Management (i-IKM) 2021 was held in Dhaka during 24-26 June 2021. The Department of Information Studies and Library Management, East West University, in association with East West University Library, organized the Conference virtually. The theme of the 2nd i-IKM 2021 was “Information and Knowledge Management, Innovation and Awareness for Sustainable Library and Information Institutions”.

Call for write-ups: TLT has taken an initiative to publish a memorial book in memory of Dr. Md. Nazim Uddin

“When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure.” Author: Unknown

Dr Nazim was a shining star and famous name in the library and information science community of Bangladesh. He was a Senior Manager and Head, Library and Information Services, International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b) passed away on 23 December 2020 at 10.00 PM in Dhaka (Inna lillahi Oa Inna Ilahi Razeun) due to complications from COVID-19.

He had very good friendships and professional relationships with the LIS professionals and academics nationally and internationally. We do not want to lose all those memories, love and emotions with Dr Nazim. As part of TLT’s initiative, we announced two new categories of TLT awards entitled “Dr Md. Nazim Uddin Memorial Student of the Year Award” and “Dr Md. Nazim Uddin Memorial Academic of the year award”, recognising industry professionals’ achievements and academic excellence in LIS education. Dr Md Nazim Uddin’s family generously supports the awards.

As declared earlier, we would like to publish a book in his memory to recognise Dr Nazim’s incredible works and his dedication to the LIS professionals.

Note that, Dr Md. Nazim Uddin obtained PhD degree from Jadavpur University, West Bengal, India. Before that, he completed his Diploma, and after that, he also completed a Master of Arts in Library Science from the University of Dhaka with a distinction.

Ms Razina Akhter, Librarian, Bangladesh Shishu Academy, has happily accepted our invitation to be the chief editor of the memorial book. Please Submit your write-up in proper given format along with your contact details. We want to make sure the publisher will follow the international standard when publishing the book.
