2nd LIS Academy Conference on Innovations In Libraries: Three LIS Academic/Professionals are representing Bangladesh

LIS Academy in collaboration with Department of Public Libraries and Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi is hosting its 2nd National Conference on “Innovations in Libraries” at VTU Belagavi on 6-9 June 2019 to create a platform to discuss and deliberate the best innovations in Libraries.

Three Bangladeshi LIS Academic/Professionals are representing Bangladesh at this conference.

Professor Md. Nasiruddin

Professor Md. Nasiruddin, Dean, School of Undergraduate Studies and Head, Dept. of Library and Information Science, National University, Bangladesh will be presenting a paper titled “Libraries and Information Centres in Disaster Risk Reduction of Bangladesh: Experience Sharing of an Innovative Project”

Professor Muhammad Mezbah-ul-Islam

Professor Muhammad Mezbah-ul-Islam, Department of Information Science and Library Management University of Dhaka, Bangladesh (currently relieved from all academic duties) will be presenting a paper titled “The 21st Century Workplace of Information Literacy Training Programs for Bangladesh: Is This Empowering Student?”

Md. Jahangir Alam

Md. Jahangir Alam, former Deputy Librarian & Head of Library at Eastern University will be presenting on two different papers. The first one is titled “Effectiveness of Open Source Integrated Library Systems in University Libraries of Bangladesh” and the second paper is titled “Library and Information Science Education in Bangladesh: A Case Study of University of Dhaka” 

Panel Discussion:

2ND LIS ACADEMY CONFERENCE is also hosting two-panel discussion sessions. The first session is on “Smart Libraries for Smart Cities” will be held on 7th June 2019 and the second-panel discussion on “Control Digital Lending” will be held on 8th June 2019. Professor Md. Nasiruddin Muhammad and Professor Mezbah-ul-Islam both will be participating as panellists in two different sessions.
