Bangladeshi library professionals attend the International conference on IndoKoha in India

A group of Library professionals attended the International conference on IndoKoha in India. The conference was held on 23 to 24 February 2019 at Vivekananda Sabhagriha, Belur Math, Kolkata, India. The conference was jointly organized by Bengal Library Association & Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira.
Some of the major objectives of the Conference were:
- To create an awareness of the benefits of using Open Source Software
- To popularize Koha as an Integrated Library Management System
- To exchange information, knowledge and experience in using Koha for Library management
- To bring together Koha Developers in Indian Subcontinent to share their expertise
- To act as a common platform regarding any issue on Koha
There were five different papers presented by the Library professionals of Bangladesh in the IndoKoha conference. These are as follows:
- Koha Implementation in Libraries: an experience from Bangladesh by Md Golam Mostafa
- Koha in Bangladesh: state and status by Md. Mahbubul Alam and Syed Robiul Islam
- Use of open source integrated library system in cadet college libraries of Bangladesh: challenges and opportunities by Md. Rafiqur Rahman and Md Shariful Islam
- Use of Koha ILS in some selected university libraries in Chattogram in Bangladesh: an analytical study by Md. Anowar Hossain, Md. Monirul Islam and Md. Nurul Islam
- Status of Kohs-ILS in medical and health libraries in Bangladesh: an analytical study by Md. Monirul Islam, SM Humayun Kabir, Bepin Behary Karmakar, Tashnova Afrin and Md. Nurul Islam
A total of 20 Bangladeshi participants, few of them accompanying with family members participated in this conference to make this fruitful and effective.
