Webinar on “Digitisation and Knowledge Management in Libraries” held

The Green University of Bangladesh Library (GUBLibrary) arranged a webinar on “Digitization and Knowledge Management in Libraries” on Monday, March 21, 2022, using the Zoom Platform. The webinar aimed to reach the GUB community and the library professionals of the country and provide an evident concept of Knowledge Management and how to incorporate it into their libraries. Around 92 participants attended the webinar.
Honourable Advisor of Green University of Bangladesh, Prof. Md. Abdur Razzak delivered his valuable speech as the guest of honour of the session. In his speech, the guest of Honor emphasized Digitization in the era of Knowledge. Prof. Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir (Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Green University of Bangladesh) shared his valuable thoughts as the honourable chief guest. He mentioned some of his concerns about what we mean by a digitalised library, what kind of services we expect, and what competencies we should have in people managing a digitalised library.
Dr Md Hassan Zamir, Associate Professor, Dominican University, River Forest, Illinois, US, presented the keynote papers in the session.
In this webinar, Dr Zamir discussed the different aspects of Knowledge Management, Benefits, Challenges involved in this, how to improve Knowledge Management, Knowledge Management Life-Cycle, Knowledge Management Implementation Steps, Knowledge Management Approaches, Methods, Knowledge Management Applications available in the market, commercial and free Library Management Systems, their features and benefits, and how to select the best one. He also discussed about collaborative software including Slack, Flock, Trello, Microsoft Teams, LibGuides, and available technologies in digitalised libraries.
Prof. Dr Nitai Chandra Sutradhar, distinguished Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Textile and Honorable Chairman of the Executive Committee for GUB Library, Green University of Bangladesh, attended the session as the session chair in the webinar. Tanzia Mobarak Monisha, Lecturer, Dept. of English, presided over the webinar.
