Located in the center of UWA’s Crawley campus, the Reid Library has been a symbol of knowledge and collaboration, attracting over one million visitors annually.

Since its opening in 1964, the library has served as a vital hub for students, providing various learning spaces for countless study sessions, group discussions, and quiet reflection.

Now, after six decades, level one of this student-focused space is nearing the completion of a major transformation, paving the way for a new era and the next generation of learners.

East West University Library celebrated the National Library Day 2021 on 05 February. As the pandemic situation is going on all over the world, this year the celebration was held online via Google Meet platform. To celebrate this day, East West University Library organized “Online Speech Contest” on “ Mujib Borsherer Ongkikar, Ghore Ghore Gronthagar ”(The Promise of Mujib year, Library in every house). The Contest was about to tell of the importance of that topic. Every participant was given 4 minutes to deliver his/her thoughts. After a thorough judgment 4 participants were selected for 3 winning positions among a huge number of participants.

Training on Library based voluntarism held in Dhaka

Libraries Unlimited Project of British Council and Ministry of Cultural Affairs organised training on library-based voluntarism recently in Dhaka. The central concept is the power of community engagement for social development. Libraries Unlimited Programme is inspiring young people to make their own Social Action Projects for the development of public libraries in Bangladesh. It was an engaging conversation, indeed.

As a part of the Drawing Words exhibition, the British Council Cultural Centre in collaboration with the Libraries Unlimited arranged a day-long training workshop for the Government Public Librarians recently in the city. Sara Mears, Programme Manager, facilitated this highly interactive workshop, Libraries Connected. The workshop mainly focused on family reading and how reading can be utilised for pleasure.

Workshop on ‘Following the Research Workflow using Elsevier’s Tool’ has been held at Brac University

Brac University Ayesha Abed Library, in collaboration with Elsevier organised an author workshop Titled “Following The Research Workflow using Elsevier Tools: Scopus ScienceDirect & Mendeley”, the program was held on 10th July 2019 at the GDLN Centre, Brac University. Mr. Vishal Gupta, Customer Consultant-South Asia, gave a presentation on Scopus, ScienceDirect & Mendeley. He gave an overview of Scopus tool– how to track, analyse and visualize research using Scopus tool. He also showed how to use the ScienceDirect platform effectively.

East West University Library organized a Workshop on ‘Following the Research Workflow using Elsevier’s Tool’ for faculty members, researchers and students of EWU community on 9th July 2019 from 2:30 PM to 4:40 PM at S. M. Nousher Ali Lecture Gallery (Room-126), East West University. Mr. Vishal Gupta, Customer Consultant- South Asia, Elsevier was the Lead Facilitator of this workshop.
This workshop covered the following topics:
  • Provided an introduction of ScienceDirect and Mendeley to get maximum benefit in doing research
  • Explained the functionalities and benefits of Scopus
  • Showed the diversified tips and tricks which can help for researchers in the research process as well as the publication cycle
