Birth anniversary of national poet celebrated across the country

The 120th birth anniversary of the national poet, Kazi Nazrul Islam, was celebrated in the country on Saturday. The government, different libraries including National Book Centre, department of public libraries and different socio-cultural, and political organisations, arranged elaborate programs to observe the day. This year’s theme of the birth anniversary is “Bangabandhu’s Bangladesh in Nazrul’s Conscience.”

Farewell program of DG, Department of Public Libraries held

A farewell program of Mr Ashish Kumar Sarkar, Director General (Additional Secretary), Department of Public Libraries, Ministry of Cultural Affairs, was held on 9 May 2019 at the conference room, department of public libraries, Shahbag, Dhaka.

Mr Ashish had a good contribution to the development of public libraries and the implementation of several projects including the creation of the new position and human resource development. He served around four years in the department of public libraries. Employees of the public libraries were present in the farewell program.
