3rd International Conference on Information and Knowledge Management (i-IKM) held at East West University

Department of Information Studies, East West University hosted the 3rd International Conference on Information and Knowledge Management (i-IKM 2023) from August 3rd to August 5th, 2023, in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The theme of the 3rd i-IKM 2023 is “Inclusive and Equitable Access to Information for Smart Society”.

The first day of the conference (August 3rd 2023) was held on Zoom Platform where around 150 participants joined the session.

Vicki McDonald, President-Elect, IFLA and Professor Sirje Virkus from Tallinn University, attended the session as the Keynote speakers.

The inaugural ceremony of the conference was held on August 4th 2023 (Friday) at 5.00 PM. Dr Hasan Mahmud, MP, Honorable Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, was present at the occasion as the Chief Guest. Esteemed Dr Muhammad Ziaulhaq Mamun, Pro-Vice Chancellor of East West University, graced the event as the Program Chair. The Conference Chair, Dr Dilara Begum, Chairperson, Department of Information Studies, East West University, was also present. The keynote paper was presented by Professor Gillian Olivar from Monash University, Australia, at the inaugural ceremony. The conference proceedings were inaugurated at the beginning of the program by the honourable chief guest, the program chair, a special guest, and the conference chair.

In his speech, the Program’s Chief Guest underlined the importance of ensuring inclusive and fair access to everyone to create a developed society and appreciated and recognised the organiser’s initiative. The initial ceremony drew a total of 400 people. In total, 42 papers were presented at the five technical sessions. The workshops highlighted and debated various challenges linked to information and knowledge management. In the technical sessions, researchers from Australia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and India, including Bangladesh, shared their respective fields’ insightful thoughts, views, practices, and experiences.
