Dr Dilara Begum from the East West University represents Bangladesh as a ‘Standing Committee’ member in the ECIL Conferences

Dr Dilara Begum, Associate Professor and Chairperson, Dept. of Information Studies and Library Management & Librarian (In-charge), East West University has been selected as a ‘Standing Committee’ member of the European Conference on Information Literacy (ECIL) as an Information Literacy expert of Bangladesh. The conference was held on 24 to 27 September 2018 in Oulu, Finland.

Annual Performance Agreement: Department of Public Libraries stood the first position jointly

Under the Annual Performance Agreement (APA), Department of Public Libraries achieved the first position jointly for the year 2017-2018 of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. Fault LineA book review program on Fault Lines: How Hidden Fractures Still Threaten The World Economy held on 25 September 2018 at projection room of Bangladesh Bank Library. The book was written by Raghuram Rajan, former governor of Reserve Bank of India and becomes very popular around the world.

Dr Md. Kabir Ahmed, General Manager, Financial Stability Department, Bangladesh Bank was the discussant on the book.

Mr Rajan was one of the few economists who warned of the global financial crisis before it hit. Now, as the world struggles to recover, it’s tempting to blame what happened on just a few greedy bankers who took irrational risks and left the rest of us to foot the bill. » Read more
